Lots of that going around.  And it's not just the total-team poison:

PUNTING:  Our punter sucks.

O-LINE: We may be pedestrian at run blocking.

LBs: We can't afford ANY injuries to starters.

FGs:

TEAM LEADERSHIP:

After 4 weeks of data this seems like a pretty accurate assessment.

Agreed. Our punting as I said yesterday and was trying to be kind, we need to invite students for tryouts for punting. I noticed and he had all day to punt I counted 5 seconds one time. So no reason for him not to be a 40 or better punter. RTR!

DeLong has the skills.  No need to have tryouts.
I'm guessing the coaches are trying to change some of his habits, and he's struggling with the changes.  The biggest difference between hs and college punting is the rush.  You have VERY little time to punt in college.  Coaches must ensure that punters get the punt away; so punters must shorten the time by making changes in technique.  I'm guessing he's making changes, and that's making him think more than he's accustomed to.

Eli called two of his punts a "shankapotomus".

The A&M punter was great. He kicked perfect spirals for about a 60 yard average. His punts were high and long. In contrast DeLong's punts were low, often end over end and short. His rugby style punts were fails. Those are the ones he shanked. The lone knock on the A&M punter is he tried to get it out of the back of the end zone with most of his punts resulting in touch backs. He never tried to pin us deep near the goal line.

The A&M punter set an NCAA record for longest average yesterday.

His punts were impressive. The height of his punts were as good as JK Scott. Apparently he does not have any touch. His 60 yard punts into the end zone would be more effective if they were 50 yarders. I do not know his net punting average but I bet it was less than 40 yards. Still good, but should have been better.

One thing for sure he could skyline the punts if he slowed down. I bet Jimbo will talk with him about that. RTR!

On a positive note, I think Bulovas has improved as a FG kicker. I was far more impressed last night than the previous games. Austin just wasn't getting it done, so that change was welcome.

I'm not disappointed in our kickoffs either. If we can get the punting game going in the right direction, we'll be ok.

Lots of that going around.  And it's not just the total-team poison:

PUNTING:  Our punter sucks.

O-LINE: We may be pedestrian at run blocking.

LBs: We can't afford ANY injuries to starters.

FGs:

TEAM LEADERSHIP:

All true, but we have Tua.
