I managed to drive them off with the paddle -- smacked all three on the head.  Then promptly left before they recovered their ill temper.

And yes, they were gliding on top of the water.  But they were attacking my boat, what else would they be.

dam thing was like a wild dog trying to get to me
a 7 foot graphite rod did the trick after about five minutes of wearing his
azz out with it ...

prolly didn't help that I looked at him and said ...

My grandmother used a garden hoe to kill snakes. Just kept on using the hoe to pull up weeds in the vegetable patch like nothing happened. Amazing sight. I prefer a shotgun.
