UPDATED FROM SATURDAY: GUS LOVE RUNS WILD ON THE PLAINS:They’re not going to fire him as much as they may want to. This contract has us saddled with him for at least two years. We’re going to be relegated to where Florida and Tennessee have been . The PTB will demand Gus get a new OC and someone who can coach QB,s and an offensive line coach who can recruit some offensive lineman. They may even demand Gus get the hell away from the offense and let the new OC run it. That might make Gus quit in which case they can negotiate a lesser buyout.
Our defense was gased last night. Our offense can’t sustain drives. Our line can’t sustain blocks. Our OT,s are simply two of the worst lineman I’ve seen at Auburn. Stidham has become gun shy and can’t even hit wide open receivers running down field. All our problems radiate out from the lack of a poor line and that is all Gus’s fault. I see our recruiting suffering from here on out because of this. They need to figure out a way to get OL’s and some big SEC running backs.
i tried to tell them what a dufus he was....high school harry is being paid 7 million $'s a year for this crap...lol....just shows AU is happy losing 3-5 games EVERY da#@ YEAR and beating the updykes every once in a while....AU football is no longer fun, and hasn't been since this jackass was hired....there is no doubt that he is an good man, no questions to that, but so was doug barfield....coach dumbass is out of his league and everyone should recognize that now....he has no clue how to fix this

I caught up with Gus Malzahn while leaving the locker room. He said he was "disgusted" with how his team performed. He jokingly said to me "we can't afford to pay a good QB to come here. Cam Newton drained that well." He laughed and walked off
If not, this is wrong and reckless on so many levels.
If we lose to UTK he should be let go that night. How dumb are our leaders to give a 7 year deal to a coach that had lost 4+ games 4 straight years. Let him go to Arkie, if that was even an option and find a real football coach.
WHAT'S IT TAKE THREADWe have a coach that is not qualified. He gets paid as if he is elite and he not. They run plays like it’s a high school team. What’s it take to get rid of him and make the decision to be great instead of just decent. I love Auburn and always will but this is beyond ridiculous. Spend the money more wisely.
Whoever the decision maker was that gave him that contract last year with all those guarantees should be made to personally apologize to every scholarship donor. And then he should resign. We are so effed right now it’s unbelievable. It’s like we are chained to the boiler of a sinking ship.
I’d kinda like to see the whole thing burned down so we can start over with a new staff and direction. How we arrived at a point where we do not even have an sec-level rb on the roster is unbelievable. This is auburn university. Makes it all the worse that gus’s Offense begins with a running game. How does that happen???
As I said in another thread, nothing will change until the fans quit buying the overpriced season tickets and people quit showing up for the games. The admin will take notice at that time.
Unfortunately, thanks to Jacobs and Leath, the buyout for Gus the clown is in the stratosphere at present. So disappointed that Sexton is so much smarter than our current President and ex-AD. They got played like a cheap fiddle.
Agreed. Gus ain’t going anywhere. He’ll be driving his fancy sports car around town and enjoying all the perks of being the AU Head Coach for some time. Something has gone awry with AU’s football program. The OL isn’t our only problem.

Empty stadium. If you have season tickets, sell them to opposing fans. If you don't, don't buy tickets to any game. It took ESPN showing fans emptying out of the stadium after the first quarter to get rid of Chizik. If Auburn fans stop showing up altogether, it'll force the PTB's hands. They don't care about the product, just as long as fans are buying tickets.
Teams are not great because their althletic department (let alone their fans), make a "decision to be be great".
Teams become great by making great decsions. Hiring CGM and giving him a raise may have not been a "great decision", but firing him now or in the forseeable future certainly would not be a great decision. It would be a foolish decision.

I agree—-The substance of your point is why we are in such a horrible spot. We literally have signed on to a couple of years of this because of that contract. Worst deal from an administration POV in college football and maybe all of sports, including professional.
We are bad not just cuz of playcalling. That’s superficial and can be fixed. We are bad because of three years of failed recruiting at OL, evidently an inability to recruit or keep an sec level rb, and a demonstrated inability to develop a Qb. I sense we have some football cultural issues too but I don’t know that for sure. We just don’t look disciplined at like we have any sense of urgency.
When Alabama beats Auburn on national TV 64-0 the PTB will suddenly have a decision to make. Pay the buyout or sink into mediocrity for 5 years. Think Barfield era. They need to fire the AU president as well. He signed off on this and wil cost the university $49 Million for crap work. That’s a lot of fund raising. Don’t care how good he is at it. That’s $49 million not going somewhere else.
The fire is now at bonfire level under Gus and a loss next week or against Texas AM means his ass will be at blow torch. He’ll either pull a Tub and get better like 2004 or fold like Bowden did. I’m thinking he’ll pull a Bowden and walk away back to Arkansas.
The only thing I am certain of is when the decision is made they will screw it up royally and Auburn will be drug through the mud. I’m also sure that whoever they bring in Sexton will be envolved and Auburn will overpay for them as usual.
The scary part is I really don’t know who they can get to compete with Saban. Everyone else is sewn up. Your taking a crap shoot with an up and comer. I don’t see Dabo coaching at Auburn nor could I ever trust him. To much Bammer in him. If I sound cynical after 50 years I’ve seen this to many times. I’m afraid Auburn missed the boat on any of the proven coaches .
