Seriously, I wonder which he'd choose.
Lots of pressure to score on our first drive, so prolly better if we win the toss and defer.
Then we get the ball (after Waddle's return) on the LSU 15.

Won't matter.  Cool

But somebody better tell CP.

Well if there is any scares I hope they come in the first half so CNS can do his damage at halftime. I think then we will win the 2nd half. RTR!

I think Bama gets the ball first.  Teams will want to start with their best squad on the field.  Bama will take the football.  LSU will defer.   Cool

That might not be the best choice for LSU -- They'll struggle if they start out playing from behind.

Was talking with an LSU guy yesterday.  He teaches at Ole Miss; from Lafayette LA.  He and I were wondering which referees we'll get for this game.  Tough job.

He thinks they'll be intimidated by the crowd, the thrown bottles, threats, etc.

How far into the game before the LSU defensive backs are called for HOLDING or PASS INTERFERENCE? How that's called could change the game.

I think lsu DB will have to hold to keep up with our speed and strength of our WR's. I hope Devontae is back a 100%. RTR!

Look for a lot more body checking by the DBs at the line of scrimmage. I'm surprised the teams we've played to date haven't done more of it.

There will be a LOT of that by LSU.  That's why I expect the refs to counter with holding calls or PI.  If the refs let 'em play, it'll be tougher to get receivers open.

Yeah, that's what made me think of that. Concerns me too.

LSU is the first team that has DBs talented enough to check at the line and play man coverage.

Bama has seen mostly zone coverage this season, and Tua has picked it apart.

I'm not expecting LSU to play that way -- and they won't give Tua time to go through his progressions either.

So I'm not expecting to see many deep balls unless there is a blown coverage.  It will be more like when Tua played against Georgia, quick passes and drives requiring more than a few plays.

Don't make it too simple.  Just like us, LSU changes defenses with each play.
They'll play man more than most teams, with rotation left and right according to our sets, and they'll play some zone and switch coverage when they blitz.

Tua will have fun reading them.  Should be good to see Irv Smith running WIDE OPEN.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of blitz packages from LSU.  They know they can't give Tua time to read his progressions. We can counter that with a quick slant.

Saban said today that Najee and Ruggs would miss some practice, but should be back by mid-week practice, and could play against Miss State.
