In other words, let a bunch of college players sacrifice their big moment to please the union.    Shocked

I have tried to understand what in the world this has to do with the butting of heads between players and coaches. RTR!

I agree.  It is a completely selfish request by the player's union, but they have proven to be a completely selfish organization...so what's new?

No doubt the kids feel caught between fulfilling what has been a lifetime dream for most and not pissing off their future fellow union members.  Crappy place to place them in on part of the NFLPA.

I heard a good idea this AM that the owner's association/NFL execs should take advantage of the situation and simply state that no prospects will be invited to the event and the coverage conduct player interviews this year to take the pressure off of these young men.  Good spin to turn things around on the NFLPA for a crap move.

My list of sporting events to watch on TV is getting shorter and shorter. I've sworn off the NCAA tourney and if there is a lock-out or strike in the NFL, I won't watch that either. Oh well, I'll just have to be content with college football, bowling and midget wrestling. (I'm sorry, little people wrestling.)

I totally agree. They only have 2 shining moments when recruited, and when drafted. They should let them have a smile on TV. RTR!

NFL Players Association asking top prospects such as Nick Fairley, Cam Newton to skip draft trip

Quote
The NFL lockout may affect former Auburn players Nick Fairley, Cam Newton and other top-flight prospects from attending next month's draft in New York.

The NFL Players Association has asked 17 players who might otherwise attend the draft not to go because of the impasse between the league and the players that threatens next season, according to ESPN.com, citing multiple sources, this Monday.

Fairley and Newton are projected as early picks in New York.

This is backfiring on the players union.  Public opinion is overwhelmingly against it.  It's not just the players, but also their families who will miss out on the first day of the rest or their children's career.  This was a stupid move, IMO.

Agree, but how many college players will show up? Julio, Ingram, Cam? Just wondering.
