Click here for linkNick Saban met with the media Thursday afternoon.
Here’s a rundown of what he said:
— “The focus this week has been on improving," Saban said.
...
— No new injuries, Saban said. Reserve defensive lineman Stephon Wynn, who got hurt during the scrimmage on Saturday, has a high ankle sprain and will be out another week or so. Nose tackle DJ Dale (sprained knee) is expected to return to practice on a limited basis tomorrow.
— Saban didn’t mention any specific players while discussing the opening at Will linebacker now that Josh McMillon is likely out for the year with a knee injury. “All I can tell you is there’s a lot of competition there,” Saban said. ...
— Saban is optimistic regarding Alabama’s offensive line. “I like the two tackles we have," Saban said. “... We have four or five guys that can play inside that have done really well. Without naming specific players, I think we can have a really good offensive line.”
— Saban has been complimentary of Florida State grad transfer offensive lineman Landon Dickerson, who has been getting reps at both center and guard. ...
— Walk-on tight end Giles Amos “has done a nice job.” He could have a role this year, according to Saban. “Giles has done a good job taking advantage of the opportunity he has,” Saban said.
....
— Saban was asked: Who’s the best college quarterback you’ve seen? ... I think Trevor Lawrence played about as well against us last year in the championship game as anybody we’ve seen here in recent times. And so did their quarterback a couple of years ago (Deshaun Watson).”
