When AJ was leaping and flapping around the field after being roughed by Dominique Easley, Coach Saban approached AJ with a bit of fatherly advice:
"Calm the f--- down."

It was caught on TV, and it was seen by Coach's family.

Yeah, I saw that and figured he's catch heck from someone like his wife. Having your daughter see it is worse though.

Last night Izzy Gould was online chatting. Someone asked him about the language CNS used during the exchange with AJ.

Izzy said do you blame him.

Also in one of the interviews after game CNS said he didn't want to have to get a 300lb defensive lineman off of AJ!!

My daughter has grown up going the Alabama games. We first took her when she was 3. She knew more about coaching than Shula. She said during the Alabama -Tennessee game in 2006. "When it is 4th down and goal to go on the 1 you go for it. How many times times are you on Tennesse's 1 yardline."

Shula kicks a field goal and Bama loses.

She played sports all her life and understands competition and the heat of the battle. Sometimes bad language is used.

Just like when a NASCAR driver is wrecked and ESPN reporter runs up to the driver when he is climbing out of the wrecked car and ask him what happened at 200 miles an hour. Driver may say something not ready for primetime.

She is also a NASCAR fan.

OK, folks, we are not dealing with a mamby-pamby guy here..CNS is a MAN among men, IMHO, and he's got a way of talking to the players. It won't pass for Sunday School language, but we are not at SS, are we?  My language can be a little salty sometimes, although I try mightily to control now in my later years.

I think his daughter is college age(?) and I would bet she has heard that word before from her friends...and I realize it is different to hear your Dad or Mom say such a word, or worse. It just shows his emotion and passion. That particular word is used so much by the younger generation, it has sort of lost it's embarassing power for them, I think. If they don't use it, they do use the comparable word, "freakin'", which IMO is just as bad because they are using it the same way for the same meaning, ala "the Sopranos". They just think us old folks should not use the words.

Anyway, CNS can continue to get red-faced and irate on the field on game day as far as I am concerned..and he can use some colorful words, too.  Maybe Miss Terri will have a word with him, but I seriously doubt it will have any effect!
