The streamer on ESPN said he was quoted as saying he was cut because he would have made Mac uncomfortable.

Newton is an A$$. A player said he was cut because he did not know the play book. Mac was helping his dumb a$$ learn but he was slow picking it up. They were running a very vanilla offense when he was in the game. Mac played well, could run the entire playbook, and had won the respect of his teammates. That is why Mac was named the starter. Newton was cut because they though if he was not the starter he would be a cancer on the team.
