I watched both games by the girls yesterday on my computer. They won both, beating Evansville 10-2 in 6 innings and then beating 8th ranked Va Tech 1-0 in a real pitcher's duel. Fouts with the win in that one. The Bama bash continues through the weekend in T-Town.

I am not sure how good Xavier is, but we won two tight ball games we could have lost. We almost gave yesterday's game away with errors in the 8th & 9th. The game ended with bases loaded and a bobbled ball at 2nd base resulted in a very close play at first for the final out.

Xavier is in the Big East Conference where they finished 3rd last year with a 15-11 record. At 28-2 they came up short of making the NCAA Tournament.

Defending NCAA Champ Miss St starts the season 0-2 dropping the first two games to Long Beach St. NCAA runner up Vanderbilt is 1-1 splitting their first two games with Oklahoma St. Arkansas is 1-1 against Illinois St. South Carolina is 1-1 against UNC Greensboro. Florida is 1-1 against Liberty.

It is a long season, but we need these early non-conference because the SEC season will be brutal.

The baseball team decided to make the third game a little easier on themselves, taking an early 5-0 lead.  They won the game 9-4 to complete the series sweep over Xavier.

They play a couple midweek tune-up games against in-state teams (JaxSt and Alabama St) before traveling to Austin for a 3-game series with Texas on the weekend.

Applause E-Cred  Glad they continued winning.  Texas will test them, and 2 will find out how good they are.   Tinfoil Hat

FRIDAY

Pitcher's duel, but Bama finally flinched.  We gave up a run in the 7th, and lost 1-0 to Texas.

Alabama missed an opportunity to beat #1 Texas in Game 1. Texas scored their only run in the 7th with a Single, Hit By Pitch, Pass Ball, Wild Pitch. We had 7 hits to their 5. We left 12 men on base to their 7. Tide starter Garrett McMillan went 6 strong innings allowing 3 hits and 0 runs. Tide reliever Dylan Ray took the loss going 2 innings giving up 2 hits and 1 run.

We play again today at 1:30 and Sunday at 1:00.

Bama wastes another good pitching performance losing 2-0 in Game Two.

We out hit Texas again 5-4 but we could not get a run across. We left 6 on base while UT only left 3.
