Alabama Softball Earns No. 14 National Seed

This year's team is not one of Coach Murphy's best. Pitching is good but we struggle to score runs. They are good enough to earn the #14 Seed and host a Regional. 25th straight postseason bid and 19th straight as a host is pretty impressive. Should we win the Regional we are paired with UT in the Knoxville Regional.

The 2024 NCAA Softball Tournament bracket was revealed Sunday evening, with the Alabama Crimson Tide earning its 25th-straight postseason bid and 19th-straight as a host, coming in as the No. 14 overall seed. The Crimson Tide will be joined this weekend at Rhoads Stadium by Clemson, Southeastern Louisiana and USC Upstate.

NCAA Regional action at Rhoads Stadium begins Friday, May 17 at 1 p.m. CT with Clemson (34-17) facing Southeastern Louisiana (45-13) on the ACC Network before Alabama (33-17) and USC Upstate (30-21) face off at 3:30 p.m. CT on ESPN+.

Bama gets great pitching but struggles to score again. They get by SC Upstate 1-0.

Bama catches a break with Clemson getting upset 6-2 by SE Louisiana. We paly SE LA in the winner's bracket this morning at 10:30. Clemson and Upstate playing in the loser's bracket at about 1:00 with the loser going home. Winner of the first game advances to the finals tomorrow only needing to win one game to advance to Supers. The winner of the 3rd game advance to the finals needing to win 2 games. Loser of the 3rd game is out.

Bama got a good break to get to host a Regional. Now they have the easiest path possible to win the Regional with Clemson getting upset. Bama pitched Briski in the opener, and she did great, saving Beaver for today.

Wow it sounds like they are maybe peaking at this time. A shutout on anybody is good. RTR!

Bama beats SE LA 6-3 in 9 innings. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation. Bama got 5 runs in the top of the 9th. Bama was the visiting team.

SE LA beat Clemson in the elimination game 6-2. Bama need one win today to advance to the Supers. SE LA needs 2 wins. The first game is at 1:00.

Bama run rules SE LA 12-2 in 5 innings. Bats came alive scoring 9 runs in the first. Briski got the win. We advance to the Supers where we are paired with the Tennessee Regional. Assuming UT wins we will play in Knoxville. A very difficult matchup.

No one expects us to win the Super Regional. UT has the top two pitchers in the country and hitting is our problem. We can always hope. 

Our expectations are extremely high. Hosting and winning a Regional is not good enough. All things considered it is a pretty down year.

Not having to play Clemson was a fortunate break. I don't give us much hope either against UT, but maybe this regional will boost their confidence. Stranger things have happened.
