McCarron was 19-for-24 passing for 224 yards and a touchdown in a 52-7 win at Ole Miss last week. His 79.1 completion percentage against the Rebels was his highest this season.
"AJ's played well for us," Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said. "I think he's improved in every game. He's done a really good job of managing the game. He did a great job of managing the game this week in terms of getting us in the right plays, getting to the line of scrimmage, showing good leadership."
Saban later said one of the keys to McCarron's success has been the fact he is surrounded by key veteran players beginning with the offensive line. The unity has four of five returning starters this season.
