and I'm going out tonight to eat some BBQ, hear CAG speak, and then watch the Tide practice. Now that's not a bad way to spend an evening. RTR!!

I wish I lived close enough to take in a few basketball games.  As a student it was always a nice break in the middle of the week to walk across Bryant Drive and go see a game.  This was when Robert Horry, Latrell Sprewell, "Hollywood" and those guys were there.  And LSU had Shaq.  Good memories.

Boy, those were some good days. Were you there the night that Dale Brown thought Bama was playing to rough for Shaq and acted like he wanted to go up in the stands and fight the fans? I was so hoping he would climb over the railing that night.

Good for you Jamos. Those home SEC game tickets may be hard to get if this teams performs like I think they will. It will be nice to see Coleman sold out on a regular basis.

I think I only saw Shaq in Coleman one time, and we lost that game unfortunately.  He went to the NBA the next season.  I don't remember that incident.

Back then the first row of the student section was called Rejection Row or something like that.  I always tried to get there early so I could sit on that front row right under the goal.  I guess it would be the one on the west side of the building if I have my bearings straight.  We screamed our heads off and acted like fools every time the other team came to the foul line on that end.  It was a blast, especially those mid-week games when I was taking a break from studying.

It seems like they painted part of the floor with a plaid pattern back then.

Thinking about all of this is actually getting me pretty excited about basketball season.  I start coaching a little league team next week.  My team only lost one game last year, and that was a fluke.  The other team got lucky on some early shots that they would normally miss and we played from behind.  We almost caught up to them though.  If we had a couple of more minutes we would have beat them I'm sure.  We won all of our other games in a blowout.  I just got lucky in the draft, but it sure was fun.

This week is the last week of soccer, so I go right from soccer to basketball, then from basketball to softball/baseball.  It takes up a lot of time, but I love working with those young kids.

Pay attention to the in-games. We'll load you up with pointers each game (LOL).

I was in the CCMN years and I hate to trade those. Leon Douglas, T.R. Dunn. Reginald King, Anthony Murray. But if I was to trade them I promise it would be for the Wimp years. I sure miss CWS. Things are promising again.

Speaking of the CM Newton years and the Leon Douglas team, I remember they were the only real challenge to the undefeated Indiana team in the NCAA tournament. They played them close until the last minute or so. Of course Indiana finished undefeated and were NC's.

CM Newton had some great teams. Things were different then. To make the NCAA Tournament you had to win the SEC. We were the only team to give Kentucky trouble during those years. Some of CCMN teams that finished second in the SEC would have gone far in the NCAA Tournament.

I also liked Wimp. He was a Sweet 16 Machine and he owned the SEC Tournament. SC mention that the center circle was painted plaid. They called Coleman "The Plaid Palace".

I get pretty excited during the games.  Fortunately I haven't told any 4 year olds to "settle the [bleep] down"... yet.  Embarrassed
