"Earlier today, an Alabama radio host continued his interview onslaught by reiterating claims that, based on audio tapes he’s heard, Auburn and Tennessee offered a sizable chunk of change to the father of Cam Newton  in order to secure the now-former Tiger quarterback’s services.

Apparently, another major college football program is on the verge of being “outed” for allegedly committing significant recruiting violations."

Sounds to me like this will leak soon.  Too many people have "heard" the rumor.  Pun intended.

I just editted my post above to add that I think too many people have heard the rumor for it to not leak. I bet we hear today.  I am beginning to think it's crap.  Like I read on twitter this morning.

Its Oregon, Its a SI investigation

Taken from Oregonlive.com:

It's a Sports Illustrated investigation, not an NCAA investigation. When the story comes out tomorrow (as originally scheduled), the NCAA will have to examine the evidence and reach their own conclusion of what rules were broken. Actual sanctions could take 6 months-2 years to be handed down.

So of course they haven't "heard a peep" about NCAA violations.

From what I can gather, the investigation revolves around the recruitment of Lache Seastrunk, Tahj Boyd, and Anthony Wallace. All three had the same "family adviser" (agent) named Baron Cortez Flenory Jr.

Wow! If that is true does it effect all sports teams or just the football program. That sounds very serious to me. RTR!

Latest is it might be the UNC investigation.  That's hardly news, and they are hardly a top-15 team.  They'd better have something more than that or I'm ripping the radio from the wall.

 

Plus, I like UNC, and I'm heavily invested there.

Funny I got a call this morning about a private investigations going on at Texas, even a board mod over at ShaggyBevo.com posted about it:

Moving on to some bad news for the program as a whole. The word we received is that an influential newspaper will be breaking a story that we've been sitting on since back in October. Of course we've given you snippets and hinted at the Gloria Allred v. Cleve Bryant fiasco, but it runs a lot deeper and has done more damage to the program than we've let on. To give you taste of what's about to hit, we've heard over the last few months that players have been interviewed and surveyed by lawyer types all season and it's been a distraction. Questions about illegal inducements, escorts, harassment of coeds, etc. have been pointed to players all season in some shape or form by legal eagles, and the effect on the team is obvious.

We haven't heard that any players have been dragged into the ongoing mess other than initial interviews, but the administration is a different story. And the investigation nor airing of dirty laundry isn't done by a longshot. It's not fair to the vast majority of the program because in reality we heard it was just a couple of guys who made really poor decisions. But it could end up being a black stain on a program that's already sucking wind and licking its wounds from 5-7.

Oregon & Seastrunk wouldn't surprise me and you guys forget how involved AU was with Seastrunk so if it's him AU could be involved as well

Well, here I am at yet another Forum. Does that make me a forum wh*re? Anyway, my 2 cents, I thought all along it was Oregon. They just ramped up too fast and too good for something like this not to happen. JMHO.
