UAB BOTs and President turn down the $75 million on-campus stadium project

UAB needs to go back to the FCS division. Never has been enough support for UAB football to pay their bills, much less an on-campus stadium.

In these difficult economic times of rising tuition and decreasing state funds, we cannot justify the expenditure of $75 million in borrowed money for an athletic stadium which would only be used a few days each year. The UAB football program has not generated sufficient student, fan or financial support to assure the viability of this project.

Wise decision by all, their football program is nothing but a waste of money. I really don't see where any of their sports programs helps the school at all.

To think that they would actually get approval for this in the first pacle is what I find hilarious. They don't get any of the support needed for this, from their alumni, faculty, or even the community.

The south endzone expansion at Bryant Denny 2 years ago cost $86 million. A $75 million dollar stadium in Birmingham would not be a very large stadium.

UAB needs to drop football. It has been a joke since day one. They can drop football and still keep their other sports. They have a solid basketball and baseball program. The football team will never get the fan support it needs to be a decent program.
