A few years ago, we saw on the news where a man killed somebody who was breaking into his neighbor's house. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Horn_shooting_controversy  He got away with it.  If you check the link be sure to read the 911 transcript...pure texan.  A few years later a woman in my little suburb took a weapon from an assailant and mercilessly beat him with it.  Texans can get caught up in their own hype but I love their sense of justice.

The most powerful man on campus for decades was attempting to flex one last muscle in writing his own exit. This was merely the latest example of the football program setting the agenda.

Hadn’t Paterno evicted Spanier and then-Athletic Director Tim Curley from his house when they came to collect the coach’s resignation following a dismal 4-7 season in 2004?
   
JoePa was unabashed — and never publicly refuted — in declaring that he would retire when he chose to do so, and not a second before.

I think the parallels he is drawing from have absolutely nothing close to those involving Pervert State university. Child rape is so overwhlemingly powerful and NOBODY is going to try to defend Pervert State and thier handling of this situation

All examples of institutions that rebuilt tarnished brand names in the wake of damaging controversies — or in the case of Duke, a firestorm that struck at the heart of the debate on race, sex and privilege in this country.

All present striking parallels to the child sex abuse scandal rocking Penn State University and threatening to topple a pristine reputation of excellence in classrooms and sports fields.

If the lessons endured by other institutions that have rebuilt shattered reputations teach one thing, it is that Penn State should be well poised to emerge largely unscathed from its crisis.

Sam Stellatella, a three-position player in the 1950s, has donated money to Sandusky's defense and urged other former players to do the same.

"I told him he's going to need a million dollars to defend himself," the 73-year-old Stellatella said. "He called me back and said, 'What am I going to do with this money?' I said, 'Use it for your lawyer because you're going to need it.' "

Stellatella sent Sandusky $100. He wrote personal letters to other members of the 1959 Liberty Bowl team that defeated a Bear Bryant-coached Alabama team and asked they also donate. He does not know how much money was raised.

I understand if former Penn State players come forward to show support for the current players and the future of the football program. But to show support of Sandusky is just sick. I have seen enough. He is guilty. Even if he somehow gets off he is guilty in my mind. OJ and Michael Jackson were not found guilty in the court room but everyone knows they did it. Sandusky is the same way. How can former players support that man.
