An amazing year for Warren Haynes continues this week with a ‘Best Blues Album’ GRAMMY nomination for his mighty ‘Man In Motion’ (Stax/Concord Music Group) and an in-depth cover story in the new issue of Relix Magazine. This is Haynes’ 8th Grammy Nomination, but his first as a solo artist. His previous nominations have come as a member of his band Gov’t Mule and the Allman Brothers Band. He previously won a Grammy Award as a member of The Allman Brothers Band in 1996 for “Best Rock Instrumental Performance” for the song “Jessica.”

Haynes’ annual Mountain Jam Festival has also been nominated for ‘Music Festival Of The Year’ by Pollstar. The 8th annual edition will take place in Hunter, NY May 31-June 3.

Hope he gets the nod. I have heard him and Derek Trucks play slide that was so close to sounding like Duane Allman it was spooky.

Comes to B'ham every year, except this past year.

Last 2 summers Gov't Mule played Sloss, before at the Alabama theatre every year since 2005. Then in '09 Widespread and Allman brothers played 2 shows together on a Friday and Sat evening the week of Ole Miss '09 in Oxford.

Trucks and Haynes were just great.

First saw Warren Haynes play with Allman Brothers at Boutwell in Nov 1991. Dickie Betts was outted by Greg Allman because of substance abuse and Haynes came in and played on "Seven Turns' album.

Have seen him since with Phil Lesh and Friends, Grateful Dead, Bob Weir "RatDog" and all the Mule showes. Last summer tixs were only $20 bucks!

Thanks for the info. I haven't been to a live show in ages. Used to see all the big names when they came thru Mobile. Thanks to bands getting ripped off we no longer have live shows except for BayFest and the crowds are so mixed due to different types of music and price of tickets I stay home. The casinos on Mississippi gulf coast have some of the bands from the 70's at decent prices and The Wharf at Gulf Shores brings in some of the top acts from the 70's to present. Mostly like to go see the local bands around town now and jam with the younger guys from time to time as long as we can come up with a tune we all know together.lol
