My parents bought a old cabin on the Warrior River at Taylor's Ferry in 1969. Cabin was built in the 1920s. It had an old boat house and a run-about with a 50 Mercury.

I had an old Kawasaki 100 Trail Boss in early high school days. Several friends and I skipped school and drove to the river on our motorcycles and got that old boat out and was drving down the river and got pulled over by the shoal patrol and I got a ticket for not having enough life jackets in the boat. I had to go to court.

My parents got the court notice in the mail. All went to hell after that. My mother was a third grade school teacher and she worked with a lady who was married to the district judge I had to go before.

Not a fan either but I did see the show, "Boys of the Fall". It was good.

That lady married to the judge was Mrs Pickens. She was my first grade school teacher!

Dee Snider is crazy , no really ... he is crazy ! I think the only thing he said in 48 hours

I didn't learn my lesson. In December 1973 some friends and I skipped high school again and drove to Atlanta to see the "Dead" play at the Omni. It was on a Thursday night. We had told everyones parents we were spending the night with so and so. We drove back after the concert. Went to Herschel Lafayette Mitchell's house ( a high school buddy who's mother would believe anything) and crashed hard. Didn't get caught that time. I still have the ticket stub.

I have seen the "Dead" and all the spinoffs play for decades. Big fan. Never met anyone.

Paul Finebaum interviewed Dee Snider back, I guess 20 years ago. He sure enough is crazy. I never saw Twisted Sister but I have one.

I just got lucky , it was snowing hard and had been for some time
the two tour buses passed me as we were coming to the bottom of the mountain
the Dead's driver didn't see my attempts to make him aware the cops were up ahead
so they got pulled over ... we eased on along figuring the road would be closed
by the time we got to the bottom of the mountain , Cabbage Mountain .
 
they have these big metal gates they swing across the road to block it off and they did .
there is an exit ramp and a small truck stop , the only game in town .
everyone had to pull in , the road was closed to all traffic , even with chains

so that's how I met them , shared one restaurant , one restroom and a few fuel pumps  .
it was interesting to say the least ... I'll bet the folks at the truck stop had never been so
happy to see a road re-open in all their lives ... !
