Two Austin Hiigh School students were killed in a car accident last night. One was a 17 year old (boy) 11th grader who played football and the other is a 15 year old (girl)10th grader who is in the band and played soccer. Like most high school kids in our town they attended the Austin-Decatur basketball game. They were killed in the accident on their way home. My daughter was freinds with both of them. My daugther told me both are christians.

Please pray for these kids and their families.

Pray

It seems like something like this happens every year.  When I was in high school a similar accident like this happened on my birthday.

You teens out there need to be extra careful driving those first few years.  It takes a good 3 or 4 years of driving experience to really become a safe, defensive-minded driver and learn to anticipate danger before it happens so that you have a little more time to stop or react.

 Pray

So sad.

Also two Missouri Southern football players were killed in a car wreck last night.

My son was going to school this past Monday morning and a lady ran a red light hit him and pushed him into to other cars.

Totaled all.

He is 16.

So thankful he is fine and no other injuries.

Thank the Lord!

God calls at the most unexpected times. Our family prays for their family to have strength, peace, and wisdom to know where the trip last night really took these children. God Bless!

Please continue to pray for the families of these two kids. They are really having a difficult time as you can imagine. Bailey was buried yesterday. Nick is being buried today.

My daughter knew both of them and my wife teaches at the school and Nick was in one of her classes. These were two good kids. They said it was like a dark cloud hovering over the school yesterday and I am sure it will be the same way today.

That is a good article with several good ideas. When our girls turned 16 we bought them a nice, safe, dependable used car. However, we put restrictions on them. You can not just hand them the keys and say have fun we will see you at midnight. We started by letting them drive to school and to the store with the restriction they would go stright there and come stright home. No kids were allowed to ride with them at first. We slowly took the restrictions off as they got more experience.

The terrible accident that happened this week did allow us a teaching lesson. Kids don't understand you are putting restrictions on them for their safety. I can not tell you how many times I have been acussed of not trusting my girls. The two kids that were killed this week are good kids. They were not doing anything wrong. The wreck was not in the middle of the night it happened at 7:00 pm. It is accidents like this that make me a nervous wreck everytime my girls leave the driveway.

pmull, I have a suggestion and you probably already know it. God has given us our kids for a short period of time, but we should turn them over to him at all times. They are his he will protect his own. I know it is a scary thought, but it is the trust we put in the Lord for them that truly keeps them safe from the destroyer. God Bless my friend.
