Jim McElwain might be the people's choice to be Fresno State's new coach

Interest between McElwain and Fresno State appears to be mutual, although the coach isn't talking and athletic department officials aren't talking speaking on the record.

"Just let me know when Pat Hill leaves or retires," McElwain said, according to the booster.

That sounds like an off-the-cuff, "tongue in cheek" remark to me.

One interesting aside is this: If CJM is confident the Tide will beat LSU he should wait and include the 2nd NC to his resume. If he feels we will lose he should cash in now, particularly if the offensive side of the ball determines the loss. I hope this helps Coach McElwain.

As I have stated earlier, if he is selected as HC, then he is gone. Why would he delay going to Long Beach when he has to get a staff together, recruit, meet a bunch of folks, etc? Once he signs, his loyalty is Long Beach State, not Alabama.

No, not likely.  Memphis is a pit, a crime-filled city, and has a university with a football team without fans.  Only 2,500 fans showed up for their last home game in the Liberty Bowl.  This isn't Louisville, where a winning coach will be rewarded with swarms of fans.  It's a thug-mentality city where the local radio shows talk pro basketball year-round, even during the first weeks of college football.

JM made the right decision.

You are correct, but I think there is still a little smoke coming from the fire on the Fresno deal.
