Afterwards, in front of the TV cameras, Xavier senior, TU Holloway proudly announced: "We've got a whole bunch of gangsters in that locker room."

What a bunch of thugs and idiots.  These guys should all be kicked out of school.  Clearly they're out of control and totally oblivious about what this behavior does to the game.

Quote
A great rivalry lost its way and its meaning Saturday. It plunged from its lofty and respected perch a bloody, mouthy, embarrassing mess. No Crosstown Shootout was ever this ugly, not even close. The ending was bad enough, you give serious wonder to whether the game should continue.

A regal game, a nationally recognized game, Our Game, ended up on its knees. It looked like Kenny Frease. The Xavier center had taken a punch to his left cheek, after he waded into the center of the riot, seemingly trying to make peace. Frease crawled from the pile on all fours, blood pouring from his face. If he were a boxer, the referee would have been in his gaze, counting eight.

Behind him hell continued to break loose, freely...

Embarrassment to all of college basketball.

Thugs have ruined a great game...Basketball today, college, HS, and pros is nothing but a street game.  The League officials and refs are to blame.

John Wooden said many years ago the purest BB game being played is womens college..it is even getting rougher.

Thugs are the reason I don't watch it anymore.

Amen.  And 'gang violence' has become a huge part of this problem.  College bb needs a complete reorganization.

I had Ole Miss season tickets last year, because I served on an oversight committee for OM, but didn't go to a single game.  I just can't enjoy it when the hoodlum (thug, swagga) atmosphere surrounds the game.

Bama has one of these "thug mentality" players on their team and it's just one more example of what basketball is today. It's amazing how the rules of the game has changed over the years to give the game a so-called more appealing version of basketball. The slam dunks, in your face style, is a prime example of the intimidation that most of the today players like to exemplify during the games. There is so much body banging and stare downs after some of the plays that you can only wonder how long it will be before a punch is thrown.

It's not really fair to blame the players totally, because they are permitted by the rules to do so, the fault lies within the rules committee that has made all of these changes to bring more excitement to the game.

Do you think some of these players would be as good as they are shown to be if they had to play a game by the old rules of basketball?  Wink JMHO

No.
Do you think tattoos of gang symbols on these "role models" send a good message to young people?

It's all about the liberal mentality of rules makers in all college and professinal sports, that's the only way they can get folks to buy the tickets for the games or events. The tattoo part of all of this is a much bigger problem than somebody wanting their mommas name on their arm for sure. The mentality of the players today kind of reminds me of the professinal wrestling mentality, and it's not a pretty sight.

GANGSTAS GO TO JAIL! If I were the recipient of that punch, Thug Magruder would be calling trying to raise bail money right now with his one phone call.

It all starts in the backyards, streets, rec center courts..go to anyone of the above in your town and you can see it..the thugsters are everywhere, all ages..the younger ones esp focus on the older ones.."Be like Mike", etc. etc.

I yearn for the days when we had Havlichek, Russell, Wilt, Oscar, Earl the Pearl, Bailey Howell, Heinson, all the greats from about 40 yrs ago, to return.  These so-called stars of today could NEVER hang with them with the game as played then.

What I don't understand is the ncaa pukes and the sec pukes wanting to "clean up" FB, but take a blind eye to BB...hellsbells,BB seems to be more dangerous than FB!

This is a sad day for honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship. Ooppss these players can't spell that big of a word. No wonder they don't have an education when they leave college they have done nothing but bounce a ball and learn how to a thug! My, my, no wonder this culture wants to get away from the past, they had to act humans back then, instead of dogs. RTR!
