They were loud, yet tasteful.
Positioned outside the entrance to the Heisman Trophy ceremony last Saturday in New York City, theater security couldn’t help a smile when pleading for civility.
But these houndstooth-wearing supporters were hard to corral. They just don’t get the opportunity to cheer running back Trent Richardson and coach Nick Saban very often.
At least not in person. Not in their neck of the woods.
These Alabama-crazy football nuts hail from the land of Springsteen and The Sopranos, not Skynyrd and sweet tea. So the dozen or so football players from Nutley, N.J. gathered outside the Best Buy Theater in Times Square, about 13 miles from home to chip in however they could....
