Cowboys Seek NCAA Action on Recruits

January 6, 2012

Whynan Polks
Staff Writer
The Oklahoman

Indianapolis, IA. Responding to information requests from The Oklahoman, officials from the NCAA grievances subcommittee have confirmed reports that they have received a petition from the Oklahoma State University director of athletics to intervene in the matter of two high school football standouts who have recently committed to the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. According to sources inside the NCAA, OSU is requesting that the players be disallowed from enrolling at the University of Alabama, and that OSU be allowed to offer the two five-star recruits additional benefits to entice them to enroll at OSU to play for the Cowboys.

The two recruits named in the request are Eddie Williams, a defensive back prospect from Panama City, FL, and T.J. Yeldon, a highly sought-after running back from Alabama.

Although few details of the OSU petition have been released, the request is based on a competitive advantage that the Crimson Tide gained through their ranking as the number two team in the nation, which has placed them in this year’s BCS national championship contest to be played on January 9, in New Orleans. Cowboy officials claim that Oklahoma State deserved to be in the championship game against the top-ranked LSU Tigers, and that granting their petition regarding the recruits would partially redress the harm done to the OSU football program.

A ruling on the petition is expected sometime in early February.

This just may be the stupidest thing I have ever seen in college football. Because you didn't end up in the championship game these recruits don't want to go to OSU? No, they don't want to go to OSU because they see the program for what it is: OU's little sister that miraculously pulled off a great season. Mediocrity will soon be back in Stillwater.

You left out the very cold weather, the small black population of 4.7% in Stillwater, the distance from home, the lack of any football tradition at OSU, the fact that players under Saban are prepared for the NFL, the SEC is the best conference, and so on.

Quite correct, MD. I was just trying to simplify it for any of our Okay St. readers out there.

If these idiots filed this in Indianapolis, Iowa then chances are good no one of any connection to the NCAA will ever see it.

For a true, realistic OSU fan, this has to be very embarassing. Talk about being whiners, wow!

This is the most sad pathetic thing I have ever seen. You lost to an unranked team who didn't even finish first in their own state. We lost by 3 points to a team who never lead in regulation play, who is a ctuallyt eh #1 team in the country. There is no arguement. And your entitlement, elitist ass is what's wrong with this country today. This also shows that you do NOT care about the kids. How would you came in and majorly disrupt these kids' lives, who have nothing to do with you for your own selfish motives. Ricky needs to say prayers for me, cause I am wishing bad things upon these people and their souls. ( If they even have souls!)
