Quote
Back in late December, amid baseless speculation that Mack Brown would be gently nudged into retirement, Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds responded to the rumors by stating that the school was looking into a revamped contract for the long-time coach.  Less than a month later, that contract discussion is getting set to commence in earnest....

Mack Brown is entering the Bobby Bowden-JoPa scenario of tenure.  Somebody tell him "it's time".

What do they see in this guy as being a good coach?  Huh?

He has the Dale Brown (golden) recruiting touch, and the Gerry Faust result.
How can a coach consistently recruit top-5 classes and produce lower-tier teams?

I guess there is nothing about the amount of wins in the contract that
he must maintain to stay employed ? 6-5 , 5-6 is good ?

I would love to see if ShaggyBevo is in meltdown over this. I hope Brown stays at Texas for another 10 yrs. It won't be much longer until UT is irrelevant just like Penn St.  Kiss

Mac Brown had a few good teams when Cam Newton Vince Young was his QB and 75% of the teams offense. He had a decent run going when Alabama ripped them a new one and they have gone down hill ever since. It is hard to believe that a school with the resources of UT will settle for "bowl eligible" results. I can not believe the fan base is happy with their coach right now. As far as the AD goes he should be on thin ice too. He put Texas in a bidding war with the conference re-alignment stuff this past summer and came out the loser.

That's because they know that since TAMU is now an SEC team, it means an automatic butt-whooping and they want no part of that.  Cheesy

I think they're waiting to see if they have a conference.  Or maybe they're still trying to work in TAMU.  Huh?

Recruiting the State of Texas is like shooting fish in a barrel.  Anyone can do it.  So CMB gets his pick of in-state talent, but does he have any pull outside of state lines? Apparently not much, only one HS player, from AZ, on Texas' list is from outside of Texas, along with two Junior College players from MS.
