Auburn’s Department of Horticulture has expressed doubts that the oak trees will last much longer than a year. A better assessment of the health of the trees will be taken in the spring.

Horticulture Department has to wait for spring.

To see if any leaves come out to tell if they are alive.

I guess I will have to wait until spring to see if all my trees are alive because for some reason they don't have any leaves right now either.

I think they want the trees to die. 

The dead of winter is not the best time to detemine the health of a tree. I think they need to get Miss State to give them a second opionion.

I actually met with the woman in charge of the tree health (true).  I wrote about it at the time.  Her take was, "The trees are dying; just not dead yet."  The conundrum seems to center on whether to replace them with full-sized trees or "children" of the dead trees that were grown from acorns.

  Personally, I like animals.
