For Alabama, the Mardi Gras Invitational at Jaguar Field has been a chance to showcase the power that took it to the Women's College World Series last year.
On Saturday night, the Tide followed a 15-4 win over Lipscomb with a 12-1 victory over South Alabama. Strong hitting and a solid pitching performance by Jackie Traina in cold and windy conditions helped the Tide prevail over the Jags in a game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
