Braves finish where they left off last PLAYOFF (wink wink)

To me, this is the biggest story in baseball so far. This use to be a fearsome hitting team with great starting pitching and a favorite to win the World Series this year.



Phillies manager Charlie Manuel provided the best sound bite of the 2012 season yesterday afternoon when he said no one is afraid of the Phillies.

He isn’t kidding. Not only do the Phillies not play with swagger anymore, but they expect to lose. That has been the theme of the season so far.

After watching them play lousy for most of this season, it wasn’t surprising they took an 8-3 loss to the Dodgers after blowing a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning yesterday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park. They were swept, too.

I like the Baltimore Orioles, I have always liked them. Don't ask me why, cause I don't know. I do know this though, Atlanta blew a 4-0 lead because they got lazy. I never seen them go so dead from one inning to the other. I know 12 runs is hard to beat but our defenses including the pitchers just folded. Go Braves but you got to finish if you want to win. RTR!

Ricky, my wife and I lived near Baltimore for a few years and I kind of developed an affinity for the team while I was up there (as well as the Ravens in football). I consider myself a fan of them and the Braves (heaven help me if the two ever face off in the World Series!). Camden Yards is a great pacle to watch a game.

I hate losing to the freaking Yankees, whether I am watching the Braves or the O's. The worst part for Baltimore fans is those morons drive down from New York and will often outnumber O's fans IN CAMDEN YARDS. Granted, our fan base needs to show a little more loyalty and fill up the stadium to prevent that from happening, but still ....

Man I remember when Boog Powell and Jim Palmer, Frank Robinson, and the Robinson that played 3rd base. They were good back then. Mgr. Earl Weaver was on fire at one time. He knew baseball. I just have a claim on them now days. If the Braves met them in World Series, which I can never see happening, I too am not sure but I think I would pull for the Braves. RTR!

They go into the ALL Star break playing solid ball. Unfortunately, the injury bug has bitten, again. Simmons, their rookie phenom at SS broke his hand today. Shortstop is a critical position, like catcher. Plus, Simmons could hit, a huge plus for a SS. I'm beginning to thinks the Braves are snake bit.

I have always been a Red Sox fan but the Orioles teams in the early 70's were loaded with talent. Great pitching. In addition to Palmer they had Dave McAlly, Doyle Alexander and Mike Flanagan. In addition to Boog, F Robinson and Brooks Robinson they had Davey Johson, Paul Blair and Don Baylor. Those were some good teams.

No, those were great teams. They won 109 games one year and 108 in another. This was in 1969, 1970, & 1971. They had four twenty game winners in one year, something only done once before in baseball. Earl Weaver grossly underperformed as manager with these teams. They won one World Series, but should have won 3 in-a-row. I am a Braves fan, but I still like the Orioles.

While I think so, too, the 1971 team was up against a strong Pirates team. Its not a surprise that they lost that one; the O's should have been kicked in 1969 for losing to the Mets.
