Click here for linkThere are doubts about former Alabama linebacker Courtney Upshaw's ability to transition his game to the next level, but Nick Saban doesn't see them.
"He can be an every-down player for somebody and I think he's going to be a very good player," Saban said during today's SEC teleconference. "He's got really good work ethic, he's got a great attitude, he's overcome a lot to be able to develop to the point that he is right now. I think those kind of intangibles are going to serve him well at the next level."
Upshaw's biggest problem in the eyes of NFL decision-makers, it seems, is that he doesn't fit the mold for one particular position. His role as a Jack linebacker at Alabama had him lining up as a typical outside linebacker on some plays, but it also sent him to the defensive line, where he was basically a defensive end, on a number of others.
All I can say is, somebody's going to be missing the boat by not taking him in the 1st round. I figure he is a #19 or #20 pick.
