Alabama's greatest sports year ever isn't over

The Chinese Zodiac calendar says it's the year of the dragon.
With all due respect, the Chinese Zodiac calendar is wrong.
It's not the year of the dragon.
It's the year of the elephant.
And not just any elephant.

Stanford holds the record with six national championships in the same academic year in 1992. Alabama could come up just short of that mark.
So it's a pity that Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal already has named a winner for athletics director of the year
.
Michigan State's Mark Hollis earned the honor over Arkansas' Jeff Long, Michigan's Dave Brandon, Baylor's Ian McCaw and Temple's Bill Bradshaw. The story describing Hollis' victory noted that his Spartans won three Big Ten championships this year. Someone is going to have to explain how three conference titles is more noteworthy than three national titles.
Alabama's Mal Moore wasn't even a finalist, but that's OK. Moore's never been all that concerned with personal recognition. He's always been more interested in team success.

Mal Moore has not gotten the credit he deserves as our AD. Soon after being named AD he made it his goal to upgrade facilities for all our programs. Everyone knows that Byant Denny is one of the nicest and largest football stadiums in the country. Coleman Coliseum has been renovated, Rhodes Softball Stadium is second to none. Golf, tennis and track have seen facility improvements. The baseball stadium needs to be next to get a major renovation or be replaced.
Besides the facility improvements Coach Moore has hired a few pretty good coaches and works hard to keep them. Across the board I do not ever remember our athlectic programs being in as good of shape as they are right now.
Roll Tide.
