The Alabama men's golf team defeated California in a tight semifinal match today and will compete Sunday for the national championship.
The top-seeded Crimson Tide defeated the fourth-seeded Golden Bears 3 and 2 at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., and will meet the winner of today's Texas-Oregon semifinal match.
Sophomore Cory Whitsett, junior Scott Strohmeyer and senior Hunter Hamrick won their matches to advance the Tide, which won the 54-hole stroke play to become one of eight teams to advance to match play. Alabama defeated Kent State on Friday in the quarterfinals.
